Sound Card Installation Help
It seems my old thread about this I had posted a few weeks back dissapeared.
Anyway onto the problem...
I recently (if you call 4 weeks recent) purchased a 5.1 PCI Sound Card seeing as I killed my old one. I was quite broke at the time so I decided to cheap out and buy a crappy brand sound card.
Since then I've had a myriad of problems attempting to enable/install this thing.
Initially my computer thought that it was a 'Video Controller', a problem which seemed to fix itself after I swapped it around the 3 open PCI slots I had.
The next problem was the drivers. Attempts to install the drivers using the included CD or the windows hardware manager thing proved fruitless as using the CD seemingly installed the drivers but upon rebooting my PC as it told me to do, nothing seems to have changed.
Using the new hardware tool/manager thing seemed like it was going to work, as it started going through the processes of installing, but then it caused my computer to restart.
I have tried multiple times to no avail, as everytime I try then my PC just decides to restart. I have no idea what the problem is so any help would be appreciated.
I've tried looking for the drivers online but that doesn't seem to return many helpful results.
The sound card is a C-Media 8738 MX 5.1 PCI Sound Card, or so says the CD.
Hopefully somebody responds this time .
